Prior to obtaining these positions, he served as a senior vice president for the Maguire Group, Inc., from 1980 to 1986. Earlier in his career, he was an engineer with the Maguire Group, Inc., from 1950 to 1980.
Mr. Devenis began his career as a student at Yale University, obtaining a Bachelor of Engineering in 1948. He then joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completing a Master of Science in 1950. From 1951 to 1953, he served with the United States Army, attaining the rank of corporal. He then returned to his studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earning a Master of Civil Engineering in 1956. Mr. Devenis is a registered professional engineer in the state of Massachusetts.
A respected voice in his industry, Mr. Devenis has been active with a number of organizations in his community. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, the Water Pollution Control Federation, the American Water Works Association, the New England Water Works Association, and the New England Water Pollution Control Association. A contributor of articles to professional journals, Ms. Devenis has written several books in his areas of expertise.
Throughout his career, Mr. Devenis has been recognized for his contributions, including having twice received the Desmond Fitzgerald Medal from the Boston Society of Civil Engineers and the Presidential Award for Design Excellence from the Charles River Project.
