OCCIDENTAL, CA, January 21, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Stephen Pollaine, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Pollaine celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Pollaine is a physicist who devoted 31 years to the study of fusion energy research at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California beginning in 1980. A federal research facility that was founded by the University of California, Berkeley, in 1952, Dr. Pollaine's contributions to the laboratory have been very fruitful. In his retirement, Dr. Pollaine has been giving lectures in the relationship between physics and consciousness at the Kelseyville Planetarium, the Noetic Institute community centers, Eomega in Sebastopol, and at the Conference on Science and Nonduality. During his talks, he discusses his own experience of the blind spots of science, gives a brief tour of physics from the very smallest to the very largest scales, and then presents evidence that implies that consciousness is not based on the material world, but is prior to it and can't be explained by physics.
One of Dr. Pollaine's greatest professional accomplishments as a physicist was during the 1990s when he did a calculation that showed that the giant laser known as The National Ignition Facility was, in fact, feasible. This was during a time when there was a lot of controversy as to whether it would ever work.
Falling in love with mathematics and the sciences when he was just four years old, Dr. Pollaine excelled in school. Accepted to the prestigious Yale University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in 1973, he then continued his studies, earning a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1980.
In his free time, Dr. Pollaine plays the piano at old age homes, wineries, art galleries, restaurants and farmer's markets. He also hosts sing-alongs and plays table tennis for fun. For the past three decades, Dr. Pollaine has been a student of Hameed Ali's Diamond Heart Spiritual School. He also practices shamanism, a practice that involves a practitioner reaching altered states of consciousness through drumming in order to perceive and interact with the spirit world, thereby channeling these transcendental energies into this world. Dr. Pollaine is notably the father of two children and grandfather of two grandchildren.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Stephen Pollaine, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
