After earning an Associate of Arts in engineering from Sacramento City College in 1970, Mr. Malson went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from California Polytechnic State University in 1973. He also graduated from the League of California Cities Mayors and Council Member Advanced Leadership Academy in 2005, demonstrating an ongoing enthusiasm for professional development. A certified plant engineer by the Association of Facility Engineers and certified Six-Sigma black belt, Mr. Malson most recently worked as senior facility engineer for Aerojet in Sacramento, CA, serving in this position until 2018.
Mr. Malson started out as a maintenance engineer for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, progressing to technical assistant to the corporate plant engineer for the same company. As his career developed, he served as maintenance coordinator for Guardian Industries, plant engineer for Holz Rubber Company, Inc., manufacturing engineer/assistant plant manager for 3i Group PLC, field team leader for the Federal Emergency Management Agency-Northridge Earthquake and facility engineer for Aerojet. He also served as a member of a solid waste advisory committee in Galt, CA, from 1992 to 1993, indicating considerable occupational drive.
Interested in the sciences from a young age, Mr. Malson earned his pilot's license when he was 17 years old and served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1970 to 1971. Now celebrated for numerous contributions to his field, he is particularly proud of his work for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In addition to his professional contributions, Mr. Malson has served his community as president and treasurer of the Galt Area Historical Society, was appointed to City of Galt's Planning Commission, along with chairing Sacramento County Environmental Commission and member of the Sacramento History and Science Commission. He was elected to City of Galt City Council in 2002 serving 4 years, to which he was again appointed to fill a vacancy in 2017.
Due to his prominence in his field, Mr. Malson was notably honored in the fifth and eighth editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
