A Certified Dental Technician for many years, Ms. Siekierski more recently served as the president of her own Dental Laboratory, Dentek, Inc., in Milford, CT, between 1970 and 2004. Now semi-retired after more than 40 years in the field, she owned Kama's Dental Laboratory in Krakow, Poland as well work for a state dental laboratory, after coming to USA in 1963 to work in Dans/Waterbury Dental Laboratory, CT, and then in Wilcox Dental Laboratory in Wethersfield, CT, the largest laboratory in the state.
As a female in a predominantly male environment early in her career, Ms. Siekierski was constantly facing challenges but she proved herself to her peers. Additionally, as a woman from a foreign country, her language barrier set other challenges. Ms. Siekierski set out to become a successful technician/ceramist and a business owner -- her tireless effort and constant education to upgrade skills and knowledge paid off.
Since 1990, Ms. Siekierski has been an active lecturer for Smile Seminars. She formerly lectured for other groups and organizations in the field of dental prosthetics and now she devotes time to serving as a consultant for numerous dental laboratories in an effort to bring better dentistry standards worldwide.
Ms. Siekierski is a past president of the Connecticut Dental Laboratory Association. She was the first ever female to serve in such a capacity for the Dental Technology Society in CT. She is also a longstanding member of the Conference of Dental Laboratories and the National Association of Dental Laboratories.
Born in Warsaw, Poland, to parents Tomasz and Janina W. Sendzimir Piotrowski, Ms. Siekierski was advised by her father to pursue a field that would allow for stability. She was a classical ballet dancer and followed her passion for art, particularly painting and sculpting, but she eventually heeded her father's advice. Becoming interested in science medicine, she became a Certified Dental Technician at the School of Dental Technicians in Krakow in 1957. Relocating to the United States in 1963, she quickly founded her first business with American partner John Nicolson in the field and continued to progress.
Married since 1959 to Kazimierz Siekierski, an accomplished electrical engineer, Ms. Siekierski has two wonderful daughters, Marzanna and Eva, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
