Rev. Jackson is best known on the campus of Aims Community College as their public service librarian. Located in Greenley, CO, he was first hired by the two-year community college in 2004 and has since become a well-respected, knowledgeable asset to the library. Also well-versed in the areas of Christian and systematic theology, Rev. Jackson became ordained to ministry in 1979. Blending his two passions, he formerly spent time as a librarian at the East Central College in Missouri and the Concordia Theological Seminary in Indiana, as a pastor at several Lutheran churches across Nebraska and Oklahoma, and as both a librarian and teacher at the Lutheran High School in Indianapolis, IN, and St. John's College in Winfield, KS. He also co-chaired the Learning College Task Force for several years.
In addition to his full-time career that has spanned more than 40 years, Rev. Jackson taught for five years as an adjunct professor at Concordia University from 1995 to 2000, was a facilitator for the Post-Seminary Applied Learning and Support, and spent time on the LCMS committee on ministerial growth and support. During his career, he has also taken time to produce the W3 Word Witness Workshop; the Concordia Self-Study CD-ROM, the Concordia Electronic Theological Library, and the Luther's Works on CD-ROM; was a content editor for the internet version of the Christian Cyclopedia; and has contributed articles to various religious journals in his area of expertise.
A member of Rotary International, where Rev. Jackson was the Texhoma chapter treasurer between 2002 and 2003, he is also affiliated as a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Mu Alpha Phi. He has served in various capacities for several other organizations, such as the Trinity Lutheran Church Board of Elders, including on the school board as president and chair, with the Weld Co. Thrivent Financial, the Winfield Committee for Commemorating the Bicentennial of the Constitution, and the Area 3 Library Service Authority, among others.
Highly educated, Rev. Jackson first earned a bachelor's degree at Washburn University in 1973, completed a Master of Library Science at Emporia State University in 1974, Master of Divinity at Concordia Seminary in 1979, and Master of Sacred Theology at Concordia Theology Seminary in 1995. He also completed postgraduate work at Indiana University from 1993 to 1996. Married for 40 years to his wife Elizabeth Ann McGhghy with five children and five grandchildren, Rev. Jackson enjoys reading and genealogy in his free time. He has been cited in every edition of Who's Who in America since 1995, as well as several editions of Who's Who in Religion, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.
