TUCSON, AZ, January 28, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Capt. Edward Harrison Alexander, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Alexander celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After earning a Master of Arts in international relations from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1990, Dr. Alexander went on to achieve a Master of Science in math from The University of Arizona in Tucson in 1994 and a Doctor of Philosophy in math from The University of Arizona in 1997. After graduating from Tufts University, he served in the United States Navy. His first ship was USS Basilone (DDE-824), in which he qualified as Officer of the Deck. Additionally, he was division officer for the USS Theodore Roosevelt from 1966 to 1969. Demonstrating considerable skill in his field, Dr. Alexander progressed to executive officer of the USS Robert E. Lee, commanding officer of the USS John Marshall, representative of the United States Commander-in-chief at the Strategic Air Command at the Offutt Air Force Base in 1982 and Charles A. Lockwood chair of submarine warfare at the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, from 1987 to 1991, among other notable positions.

Dr. Alexander's background in mathematics and naval exploration dates back to his time in high school, when he first became interested in Navy ships. After joining the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, he successfully earned his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in mathematics and was eventually drafted into nuclear power. Notable for his work in the Navy, Dr. Alexander served as house instructor for the international class at the United States Naval War College for one semester, helping international allies learn how the United States plans combat missions. Now firmly ensconced in the education industry, Dr. Alexander worked as a graduate teaching assistant at The University of Arizona from 1991 to 1997 and served as an adjunct faculty member in the mathematics department until his retirement in 2008.

An officer in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1991, Dr. Alexander has been awarded a Meritorious Service Medal for his multifaceted skill set and devotion to his country. Highly influential in his field due to his professional focus and academic drive, he considers his greatest accomplishment to be the time he assisted a struggling officer in getting back on track and reaching his full potential. In an effort to keep abreast of developments in his field, Dr. Alexander maintains affiliation with the Mathematical Association of America, the Navy League of the United States and the United States Naval Institute. He is also active in the U.S. Submarine Veterans, Inc., and the local Submarine Veterans base.

In 1965, Dr. Alexander married Betty Lynn Zorn of Houston, Texas. Together, they have two boys, Christopher and Benjamin, and a girl, Holly, adopted from Vietnam. He attributes his success in the field to his wife.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Alexander has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
