Acting under the stage name "Kim Martin," she has dedicated her time to singing, dancing and composing music for the duration of her career. Delving into her profession when she was merely 5 years old, she commenced her career as an entertainer through tap dancing on the radio show The Slim Jim Program. In addition, she cites her father as being an influential factor in her career path, as he spent his time as a traveling musician.
Specializing in country music, she has also contributed her expertise to Marth Properties in Minneapolis, since 1972, where she acts as a real estate owner. Equally passionate about her local community, she has held the role of secretary for Hennepin County Adult Foster Care since 1983 and has been a member of the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum & Heritage Center since 1988, the Columbia Heights Owners Association since 1990 and the Multi-Housing Association since 1993. Likewise, she has allocated time to Summit Ministries in Colorado.
She has further been a prolific author, having penned multiple poems, songs, articles, short stories and children's books. She has also had the privilege of working with producer Gerry Peters of Midi Magic Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, who played on recordings for such prestigious musicians as Joe Walsh of The Eagles, Bobby Helms, who famously wrote the song "Jingle Bell Rock," Jimmy Griffin of Bread, and Johnny Nash, who wrote "I Can See Clearly Now" in 1972. Having featured her talents on several videos on YouTube, she has established herself as an esteemed and accomplished musician and entertainer whose work can be found across the internet.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the music industry, she was named Queen of Country Music by The Association of Country Entertainers in 1977, which she cites as the crowning moment of her career. Additionally, she was named Entertainer of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year in 1978, Best Band of the Year in 1979 and Songwriter of the Year in 1980. Most recently, she was inducted into the Mid-America Music Hall of Fame in 2007.
