An accomplished listee, Dr. Pitman celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Dr. Pitman is a retired mental health counseling executive and consultant who concluded her career with the Geriatric Psychiatric Facility in Coos Bay, OR, in 2006 after seven years with the organization. She formerly worked as an educational consultant specializing in learning disability testing, chief executive officer and senior executive vice president and therapist for Comprehensive Assessment Services in Eugene, OR, and spent several years as a private practice mental health counselor, where she specialized in chemical dependency of both adults and adolescents. Furthermore, Dr. Pitman was a senior executive vice president and education director for Light Streams, Inc., in Eugene, alcohol/drug abuse prevention and intervention counselor for teenagers, and a consultant and consumer education member for various private businesses.

The author of the cookbook "Easy Does It," a two-book series, Dr. Pitman formerly hosted a weekly television segment in Portland, OR. She has also been a guest speaker for several radio shows and before several professional women's groups in her area of expertise. Active with several professional organizations, she is notably a longtime member of the American Board of Disability Analysts, the National Association of Social Workers, the American Counseling Association and the Columbia State University Alumni Association, among others.

During the first portion of her career, Dr. Pitman was active with several community organizations. She taught as a Sunday school teacher between 1956 and 1990 and volunteered at various orphanages and elderly nursing homes across Thailand, Germany and the United States between 1954 and 1995. She was also a girls' volleyball coach and served on the board of directors and as a den mother for the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America in Kansas and Oregon. Dr. Pitman was involved with the Guardian Job Daughters and sponsored several exchange students over the years as well.

Dr. Pitman taught school in Germany, Thailand and throughout the United States. In addition, she taught GED to American military personnel in Germany and English to the Thai Royal Air Force Officers—-all students passed their respective requirements!

Dr. Pitman has been included in over a dozen editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. She has notably held a Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Oregon University since 1962, as well as a Master of Social Work and Doctor of Philosophy from Columbia State University since 1992 and 1993, respectively.

Married to the late husbands Ray Ballinger and Gary Pitman, Dr. Pitman is the mother of three and grandmother of two. In retirement, she enjoys cooking and working in her garden. She also loves to read, go on walks and bowl.
