A retired attorney from the Florida Department of Health, Mr. Johnson excelled in these positions between l986 and 2018, focusing in administrative, health and civil trial law. He served as a Lieutenant Commander for the Judge Advocate General's Corps of the United States Navy between 1981 and 1986. Previously, Mr. Johnson worked in his private practice between 1979 and 1981.
Although Mr. Johnson is retired from full-time government service, he has continued to teach as an adjunct professor at the University of West Florida since 2004. He has also held the posts of a pro bono legal organizer and advisor for various community health centers, including the Walton Community Health Center, Inc., where he currently serves as legal counsel. Over the years he has also served as organizer, director and CEO of the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, Inc.
Beginning his career in 1965, Mr. Johnson held the role of a methods engineer for the Delco Moraine division of GMC for six years. In 1971, he maintained involvement as a systems analyst for D.W. Mikesell, Inc. for another three years and as principal at the Johnson Tool Company. He is also a member of the American Bar Association. Within his local community, Mr. Johnson is associated with the Avalon Fire Rescue District as commissioner from 1992 to 2004 and as commission chair since 2004.
Mr. Johnson initially earned an Associate of Science in business management at Sinclair Community College in 1968 and a Bachelor of Science in business economics at Wright State University in 1975. He later graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University in 1978. He has since been admitted to practice law by the Ohio and Florida Bar Associations, the Northern District of Florida and the Southern District of Ohio U.S. District Courts and, the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Military Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has further twice attained the designation of Board Certified Specialist (BCS) by completing the education, experience requirements and passing a specialized bar exam of the Florida Bar for Health Law in 2001 and State & Federal Government & Administrative Practice in 2008. Since 1993, Mr. Johnson has been included in over a dozen editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in America Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
