After accruing more than 40 years of professional excellence, Mr. Popkoff retired from his work as a prototype technician at Randtron Antenna Systems in Menlo Park, CA, the Lockheed Martin Corporation and L3 Technologies in 2013. Prior to starting in the field, he served in the Fourth Armored Division Germany Army Tour, working in electronic repair and communication equipment maintenance for three years. Upon leaving the military, he worked as an electromechanical technician and manufacturing supervisor for Dalmo Victor Company from 1969 to 1971. Over the years, he gained additional knowledge through Vedic Corporation, where he served as a communications data equipment technologist from 1971 to 1974.
A hardworking and dedicated professional, Mr. Popkoff has been responsible for bringing new antenna products from engineering prototype proof of concept to production ready to assembly status. Additionally, he resolved engineering errors and suggested design improvements to facilitate the ease of assembly in the manufacturing phase. Throughout his career, he has furthered his knowledge of the industry with diplomas from the Industrial Training Center in San Francisco, CA, and the U.S. Southeastern School, as well as coursework completed at De Anza College and Santa Clara University.
Becoming involved in his profession due to his interest in electronics, he cites the highlight of his life to be following through with his goals of owning a car, getting married and buying a home before the age of 25, which he impressively accomplished. Utilizing the vast array of expertise he has gained over the years, Mr. Popkoff gives back to his community through the national advisory board of the American Security Council. In the near future, Mr. Popkoff intends to continue enjoying his retirement.
