Cordelia Esry has notably been named to the Missouri Nurses Association Hall of Fame.

A professor emerita and former longtime chairman in the department of nursing at Missouri Western State University, Dr. Esry taught and worked in the field for more than 40 years. During her tenure in academia, she was a secondary counselor at the Hamilton R-II School District and an assistant instructor at the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing. In health care and nursing, she spent time as a district supervisor for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, private duty nurse, and assistant executive director of the Missouri Nurses Association. Dr. Esry also served as the president of the Missouri State Board of Nursing for four years between 1998 and 2002. She continues to serve on the board of directors of Serve Link Home Care since 1997.
Dr. Esry has served on the board of directors of the Missouri Nurses Association and is past president and national executive board member of the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing Alumni Association. She is also a former board of directors member of the Missouri League for Nursing, former president and current board member of the Missouri University Alumni Association, and longtime member of the National League of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, PEO International and several honor societies.
Honored with a Faculty Award from the University of Missouri Alumni Association in 2008, Dr. Esry also received an Outstanding Faculty Alumni Award from the Missouri Western State University Alumni Association and Foundation Boards and an Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing. She has notably been named to the Missouri Nurses Association Hall of Fame and has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Nursing.
Dr. Esry received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and master's degree from the University of Missouri in 1955 and 1957, respectively. She later completed a Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Kansas in 1987. Married to the late Irvin T. Esry, Dr. Esry is the mother of two, grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of five.
