James Fujita was the recipient of the Outstanding Lecturer Award from Leeward Community College in 2000.

For many years, Mr. Fujita has excelled in the field of education, beginning in the 1980s with his work as a graduate assistant and a history lecturer at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Subsequently, he obtained the role of a history lecturer with Kapi'olani Community College. Over the years, he has found success through position with Hawaii Pacific University, Chaminade University and Leeward Community College, where he serves today as a tenured associate professor. Elected to Leeward CC's Faculty Senate, he served as faculty senate chair during academic year, 2017-2018.
Mr. Fujita initially pursued an education at the University of Hawaiʻi, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1980. He concluded his studies with a Master of Arts in 1983, also from the University of Hawaiʻi. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Fujita is affiliated with the World History Association, the Army Historical Foundation and the American Historical Association.
Throughout the years, Mr. Fujita has had many students approach him and thank him for his guidance, which remain among his proudest moments. He also cherishes his opportunity to serve as judge for History Day, evaluating student projects and providing critiques and guidance for budding young minds. A recipient of the Outstanding Lecturer Award from Leeward Community College in 2000, he has been further celebrated in publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the World. Looking toward the future, Mr. Fujita intends to experience the continued success of his career with Leeward Community College.
