Dr. Delbert L. Kimbler is an emeritus professor of industrial engineering at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.

Dr. Kimbler is an emeritus professor of industrial engineering at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. Teaching at Clemson University for more than two decades, he was first hired as an associate professor in 1986, working his way up to full professor by 1990. He also chaired the department of industrial engineering between 1995 and 2000. Retiring from Clemson University in 2008, he formerly taught at the University of South Florida in Tampa for six years as an assistant and associate professor in the department of industrial and management systems engineering. Dr. Kimbler has since served on the board of the Emeritus College of Clemson University between 2013 and 2016.

Known for his research in quality and industrial engineering education, Dr. Kimbler was the recipient of 19 grants from various organizations between 1980 and 2003. Authoring "TQM-Based Project Planning" in 1996, he was the editor of "Seasons of Clemson" in 2010 (a post-retirement collection of photography), "Industrial Engineering Terminology" in 1990 and the 19th Annual Simulation Symposium proceedings in 1986. Dr. Kimbler also served as a senior editor for the Journal of Manufacturing Systems from 1991 to 2001 and was an area editor for Computers & Industrial Engineering from 2002 to 2011.

During his years in academia, Dr. Kimbler lent his expertise as a consultant engineer with the Ciba Vision Corp. in Georgia, an academic adviser for the Systems Modeling Corp. in State College, Pennsylvania, and a program evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. He also spent time as a council member for the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education in Charlotte, North Carolina. An elected fellow and senior member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, he received a Manufacturing System Award from the organization in 1988. Dr. Kimbler also holds membership with The Tau Beta Pi Association Inc. and Alpha Pi Mu.

Dr. Kimbler has been very active in his local community as well. He chaired the Zoning Board of Adjustment, was a member of the Planning Commission and was a board member for Zoning Appeals in the city of Clemson. He also served as a unit commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America and was a board member for the Arts and Cultural Commission. In 2018, Dr. Kimbler began serving as a founder and member of the Clemson Area Better Angels, where he also does work as a trained moderator.

Named Engineering Educator of Year by the South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers' Piedmont chapter in 1992, Dr. Kimbler also received a United States Army Commendation Medal in honor of his service in 1969. He notably served active duty between 1966 and 1970 and was honorably discharged. In light of all his accomplishments, Dr. Kimbler has been featured in more than 25 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World.

Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Kimbler received a Bachelor of Science in engineering, with distinction, at the University of South Florida in 1976. Following this accomplishment, he continued his education at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial engineering and operations research in 1980. Dr. Kimbler is registered as a professional engineer in the state of South Carolina.
