Ms. Jordan began her career as a student at San Jose State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1959. She later continued her studies with the university, earning a Master of Arts in 1985. She has also completed coursework with Texas Western College (now known as the University of Texas at El Paso) and Prairie View A&M University. Ms. Jordan is certified in specially designed academy instruction of English, fine arts, multicultural teaching and elementary education.
A respected voice in her industry, Ms. Jordan has been an active leader in her community. She is a member of the National Education Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the California Retired Teachers Association, the Santa Clara County Reading Council and the California Elementary Education Association. She has also been affiliated with the California Reading Association, the California Teachers Association, the Alum Rock Education Association, the National Council of Negro Women, Delta Kappa Gamma and Alpha Delta Kappa.
Throughout her career, Ms. Jordan has received awards and accolades for her achievements, including having been recognized as the First African American Enrolled in LIT System Undergraduate Programs. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
