The Plymouth County Education Association has presented Barbara (Churbuck) Adams with a 25 Year Award, a 30 Year Award, and a 35 Year Award, as well as a Distinguished Service Award.

With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Adams is currently retired, having most recently worked as a second grade teacher with Mayflower School Central from 1990 to 1995. Prior to this role, she excelled as a second grade teacher with the Union State School from 1981 to 1990. Earlier in her career, Ms. Adams found success as a third grade teacher from 1957 to 1981.
Ms. Adams initially pursued an education at Bridgewater State Teachers College, now known as Bridgewater State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in education in 1957. She concluded her studies with a Master of Education in 1959, also at Brightwater State Teachers College. In addition to her primary roles, Ms. Adams has contributed as a school volunteer for various Native American programs.
A respected voice in her areas of interest, Ms. Adams has been an active leader in her community. She is a member of Rotary International, the Yarmouth Historical Society, and the Cape Cod Antique Dealers Association. A trustee of Yarmouth Library, Ms. Adams has also been affiliated with Delta Kappa Gamma and Omega Iota Phi.
Throughout her career, Ms. Adams has been recognized for her achievements. The Plymouth County Education Association has presented her with a 25 Year Award, a 30 Year Award, and a 35 Year Award, as well as a Distinguished Service Award. She has additionally accepted Distinguished Service Award from the Massachusetts Teachers Association and a Notable Accomplishment Commendation from the Middleboro Education Association. Moreover, Ms. Adams has been featured in numerous publications, including Who's Who in American Education.
