Interested in problem-solving from a young age, Ms. Provencher-Kambour initially worked toward a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Hampshire in 1969 and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina in 1991. After beginning her career as an editorial assistant, and director of publications from 1964 to 1974 at the Hartford Insurance Group, the Kaman Aerospace Corporation, the Royal Typewriter Company, the Durham Advertiser, and the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, USSR. From there, she was a freelance writer for Fran Ryder Associates, manager of public relations for Shailer Davidoff Rogers Inc., and senior account executive for Creamer Dickson Basford. Demonstrating a continued ability in leadership positions, she later excelled with Spiro & Associates as an account executive, an account group manager, associate public relations director, and vice president.
As her career progressed, Ms. Provencher-Kambour served LGSE Advertising Inc. as senior vice president of public relations and Wondriska Associates as vice president of corporate communications. In 1988 she opened The Kambour Company, an international strategic planning and public relations firm where she served as founder and president. She closed the company in 2003 and joined the Peace Corps as a small enterprise development volunteer and later as a technical trainer. Upon her return, she was hired by Peace Corps headquarters as a SED specialist for the Africa and EMA regions. She was first promoted to acting sector unit supervisor and lastly as program support supervisor worldwide.
From 2011 to 2013, Ms. Provencher-Kambour worked with the United States Agency for International Development as an enterprise and economic development advisor. There, she was involved with refining strategic development plans for many overseas missions. Following this experience, she spent four years as a senior volunteer consultant with United Way of Martin County/ Executive Service Corps. In this role, she provided consulting services to nonprofits in Florida.
Due to her professional achievements, Ms. Provencher-Kambour received numerous awards in her field, including the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International in 1997, the National Safety Council Award in 1985, two Gold Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators in 1974 and a Meritorious Award from the United States Agency for International Development in 2013. Her accomplishments include amending motor vehicle standard 205 and translating "The Cogito in Edmund Husserl's Phenomenology." Founding the Art Guild in 1975, she was an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, for which she held numerous leadership positions, including president of the Yankee chapter (NH, VT, and ME).
Interested in civic outreach, Ms. Provencher-Kambour contributed on the board of directors for the Hartford School of Ballet's Parent's Association. She also served on the University of Connecticut Foundation, the Cheshire Medical Center, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic Community Advisory Council, the Monadnock Community Foundation and Monadnock Family Services. She was honored in such publications as Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
