Prior to this role, she worked for the Memphis VA Medical Center as a patient health education coordinator from 1988 to 1995, a staff developer from 1988 to 1989, and a clinical specialist from 1986 to 1989. Furthermore, Ms. Miller began her career at the Memphis VA Medical Center as a staff nurse from 1981 to 1985.
Ms. Miller initially pursued an education with training at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, obtaining a diploma in 1963. She continued her studies with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1980 at the University of Tennessee. Following these accomplishments, she earned a Master of Science in nursing at the University of Tennessee in 1981. After accruing experience in the field, Ms. Miller concluded her academic efforts at Vanderbilt University, completing postgraduate coursework in 1996.
Moreover, Ms. Miller is certified as a geriatric nurse practitioner, a clinical specialist, and a health education specialist. A respected voice in her areas of interest, she has been affiliated with a number of organizations in her community, including as the past president of Sigma Theta Tau, Beta Theta Chapter at Large. Likewise, she has served on the board of directors of the Tennessee Nurses Association. Ms. Miller found success as an author as well, having authored many articles for professional journals.
Throughout her career, Ms. Miller has been celebrated for her impressive achievements. Notably, she has been recognized among the Excellent 11 Top Nurses of Shelby and Fayette County and received the Administrators Award for Excellence in Nursing, and the West Tennessee Federal Employee Award as the Outstanding Scientific/Professional Employee. Ms. Miller has also been featured in numerous publications, including Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing, and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
