(ABET). At the start of his career, he served the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for five years as an electronic engineer. He later parlayed his knowledge of the field for others at West Virginia University as assistant, associate, and full professor and as founding director of the Energy Research Center. Over the years, Dr. Aldridge found success in education and educational administration with Auburn University as an associate dean of engineering and the Thomas Walter Eminent Scholar. At Mercer University he served as dean and Kaolin Chair of the School of Engineering.
A fellow of the ASEE, Dr. Aldridge earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University, and both a Master of Electrical Engineering and Doctor of Science Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia. In order to serve and remain aware of changes in the field of engineering, he has been affiliated with the Industry Applications Society of the IEEE and was named a fellow in recognition of his research related to electronic monitoring systems in coal mines. In a career filled with highlights, Dr. Aldridge contributed in many ways to ABET including those that continue to have a major impact on the criteria currently used to accredit engineering programs around the world. These contributions have been recognized by being named a fellow and receiving the Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award of ABET.
For his outstanding accomplishments Dr. Aldridge has been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, and Who's Who in the World.
