S. Basheer Ahmed Honored for Excellence in Economics

    BOWLING GREEN, KY, March 06, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- S. Basheer Ahmed has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As an educator-turned consultant, Dr. S. Basheer Ahmed has spent more than 50 years instructing on best practices and advanced economic concepts to students and clients.

Born in Kurnool, Andhra, India on January 1, 1934, Dr. Ahmed began his educational studies in India, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Osmania College in 1955 and a Master of Arts from Osmania University in 1957. Following his second degree, he decided to pursue greater opportunities in the United States, becoming a naturalized citizen in 1961. Dr. Ahmed continued his studies in his adoptive country, earning a Master of Science and Ph.D. from Texas A&M, graduating in 1963 and 1966, respectively. With more than 10 years of higher education under his belt, Dr. Ahmed was ready to enter academia for himself, becoming an assistant professor at Tennessee Technical University in 1966 and remaining on staff until 1968, when he left to become an assistant professor with Ohio University for the next two years.

In 1970, Dr. Ahmed joined the prestigious Princeton University as a visiting fellow for one year before assuming his first full professorship at Western Kentucky University, where he would remain for the next 10 years. At this point in his career, Dr. Ahmed branched out into non-teaching roles, becoming the president of Princeton Economic Research, Inc. He held this role for 19 years, all the while continuing his work as an educator. His next two professorships, both of which were at Pace University, lasted 10 years each. In 2000, he became the president of Pearce Consultant Services, where he remains to this day.

An accomplished author, Dr. Ahmed has published a number of books on an impressively eclectic range of subjects. Those books include "Quantitative Methods for Business," "Nuclear Fuel and Energy Policy," and "Technology, International Stability, and Growth." In recognition of his work and contributions to his field, Dr. Ahmed received an achievement award from Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1977 and the IEEE Centennial Medal in 1983.

Looking ahead, Dr. Ahmed hopes to leave a legacy of success for others to follow. He also hopes to continue his work as a consultant.
