Accruing 24 years of industry experience to her credit, Mary La Wayne Hauser most recently served as an adjunct professor at the Northwest campus of Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, Texas in 1999. She began her teaching career as part of the faculty within the Midland Independent School District from 1965 to 1966 and the Irving Independent School District from 1966 to 1967. She then taught the U.S. Department of Defense, European area, between 1967 and 1970, and at the Child Study Center in Fort Worth, Texas for one year. Ms. Hauser returned to teaching public school students in 1972, working within the Grapevine Independent School District from 1972 to 1973 and the Birdville Independent School District from 1974 to 1998.
In addition to this tenure, Ms. Hauser was a student council sponsor from 1980 to 1989 and student newspaper sponsor from 1980 to 1998, and served as a proprietor for Hauser Haus Rental Property from 1980 to 2003. During this time, she was also a newspaper in education sponsor and presented at conferences and programs for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram from 1991 to 1997, chairman of the Celebrity Monday Program from 1993 to 1995, and a chess club sponsor from 1996 to 1998. Ms. Hauser then worked with Kelly Services, Inc. from 1999 to 2009 and served as a temporary employee in the corporate world, on long term special projects, and during vacations and sick leaves. Throughout 2010 she worked for the U.S. Census Bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce. In recent years, she administered private teaching and tutoring lessons from 2010 to 2017 and has served as a proprietor for Hauser Haus Handmade since 1992.
Prior to embarking on her professional path, Ms. Hauser pursued a formal education at the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and English in 1965. She then attended Texas Woman's University, where she obtained a Master of Arts in psychology and Masters of Education in 1977 and completed postgraduate coursework between 1985 and 1987. Additionally, Ms. Hauser is a certified teacher in the State of Texas and has received national certification for teaching in all 50 states. She is also certified in LLD, the gifted and talented, and has computer proficient certifications in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PC and Apple products.
Beyond her efforts within the industry, Ms. Hauser has contributed to numerous endeavors outside of her her professional circles. She served the Eastern Hills Neighborhood Association as crime watch chair from 1977 to 2002 and then was its newsletter editor from 2002 to 2011. To help with its establishment, she volunteered as an arts and craft leader for East Fort Worth 4-H in 2000 to 20005. Furthermore, Ms. Hauser has been a member of the transportation/public works committee and the floodplain policy for the City of Fort Worth since 2009, a volunteer with the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network of the National Weather Bureau since 2016, and a stakeholder committee member of Transportation Public Works for the City of Fort Worth since 2016.
A prolific writer, Ms. Hauser has authored three publications. Her first presentation, "Child Abuse: A Call for Help - A Slide Presentation," was given in 1977. She went on to write "Teriyaki, Tea, and Tokyo, a Mini Study for Third - Six Grades" in 1986 and a booklet titled "Students Expressing Freedom of the Press" in 1993.
In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Hauser remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a curator, the historian, first vice regent, and second vice regent for the Mary Isham Keith Chapter's executive board of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and now serves as chairman of the conservation committee. She has served as national defense chairperson for the General Edward H. Tarrant Chapter of the National Society of the United States Daughters of 1812; served as the scholarship and awards committee chair for the Honorable Philip Livingston Chapters of National Society Daughters of the American Colonists; and memberships in the Eastside Creative Arts Club and the Oak Crest Woman's Club. More over, Ms. Hauser has maintained involvement with the Texas Retired Teachers Association, the Eastern Hills Neighborhood Association, and the Meadowbrook United Methodist Church.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Hauser has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her impressive career. She received a Crisco Award in 1962, and was named Woman of the Year by the American Business Women's Association in 1983. She was also honored with the National Gold Award at the Neighborhood USA Conference in Indianapolis in 2012. Ms. Hauser was selected for inclusion in the eighth edition of Who's Who in American Education, the 27th edition of Who's Who of American Women, and the 60th and 61st editions of Who's Who in America.
