For nearly 45 years, Mr. Bugg excelled in the field of engineering, starting with his work as a chemical engineer with Froehling & Robertson in Richmond, VA, in 1955. After four years in that role, he became an electrical engineer with the Philco Corporation in Philadelphia, PA, and stayed there for another four years. He spent the majority of his career with IBM as a programmer and manager for three decades between 1963 and 1993. While working for IBM, he assisted in pushing them further into the field of communications. Alongside his team of 125 people, he worked on a project that would help them progress further into the industry. Over the years, he also gained valuable expertise through his work with Michael Fagan Associates as a consultant until his retirement in 1999.
An expert in his field, Mr. Bugg holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and physics from the University of Richmond and a Master of Science in aerospace engineering from the Catholic University of America. In order to remain abreast of changes in his areas of interest, he maintains affiliation with the American Angus Association, the Masons and the Scottish Rite. He also associated with Ducks Unlimited, where he served as chapter chair and received the Distinguished Service Award, and Maryland Master Gardeners, where he most recently served as chair of the therapeutic horticulture committee from 2012 to 2019.
Utilizing his vast knowledge, Mr. Bugg authored "Theory of Management" in 1975 and "Soaring Above Adversity" in 2007. Covenant Books also internationally published him in 2019. Mr. Bugg has a web site, www.billbugg.net, that presents some features of his book "Soaring Above Adversity" which offers what he learned and experienced as a caregiver to his wife who had Alzheimer's Disease for eighteen years. In his spare time, he contributes to his community through Montgomery United Methodist Church, where he has served as a Sunday school teacher and founder of various community meetings and the associated planning team. Previously, he served as a longtime football coach through the Maryland Youth Athletic Association and Seneca Sports Association, and he received the Great Coach Award in 1978.
In light of his professional accomplishments, Mr. Bugg was honored in Who's Who in the East in 1994. Married to the late Billie Jean Follis, he is the proud father of three children. Looking toward the future, Mr. Bugg intends to continue enjoying his retirement.
