In 1990, Dr. Behm earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University, which was preceded by a Bachelor of Science from Heidelberg University earned in 1976. A diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Board of Family Medicine, he earned certification in secondary education from Michigan State University in 1983. Currently a practitioner with Pittsburgh Family Health Care, where he has worked since 1999, Dr. Behm commenced his career as a graduate assistant with the department of biophysics at Michigan State University in 1977. He then served the institution as a researcher for the entomology department, medical technician for the Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory, and research technician for the Plant Research Laboratory between 1979 and 1985 before working for Lansing General Hospital as an intern in osteopathic medicine from 1990 to 1991. Dr. Behm went on to serve as a resident and chief resident at Sparrow Family Practice and member of the staff at Memorial Healthcare, serving in the latter position from 1993 to 1999.
Dr. Behm's success was motivated by a desire to educate his patients and care for others out of interpersonal respect. Celebrated for several accomplishments within his field, he has impressively served as department chair of Memorial Healthcare and later was able to remain an independent solo provider. A notable professional in his industry, Dr. Behm also worked as a shift physician at Mason Urgent Care Center at several points throughout his career. Interested in civic outreach, he served as vice president of the Lansing Area Commodore Club in 1984 and on the executive board for Michigan State University's Clerical Technical Union from 1982 to 1983.
In 1990, Dr. Behm received the Richard M. Alper Award for Community Service, and he was honored with the Zenith Award for Biopsychosocial Medicine in 1993. He currently belongs to the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Michigan Academy of Family Physicians, serving the latter on the committee on science assembly from 1994 to 1999. He has been featured in numerous editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
