Recently retired as a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP in San Francisco after 30 years with the firm, Mr. Sanders focused his practice primarily on antitrust. Beginning as an associate in 1987 and as a partner since 1992, his work at the firm included government investigations and proceedings, class action litigation, private litigation and antitrust counseling. He also served Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP as partner-in-charge of the San Francisco Bay Area offices between 1995 and 2000 as well as a member of the executive, compensation, finance, hiring and ethics committees. Mr. Sanders also teaches international antitrust law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

Prior to his career with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, Mr. Sanders found success as a trial attorney with the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in San Francisco between 1983 and 1987. He litigated both criminal antitrust and civil merger challenges while at the Department. Mr. Sanders also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Proctor R. Hug Jr. of the Ninth Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals between 1982 and 1983.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Mr. Sanders pursued an education at Antioch College, earning a Bachelor's degree in 1976. He concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of California at Berkeley in 1982. Mr. Sanders has since been admitted to practice law by the State Bar of California and many federal courts.
During his time at the University of California at Berkeley, Mr. Sanders served as an associate editor of the California Law Review from 1980 to 1982. A member of The Order of the Coif, he serves on the boards of directors of the Sierra Club Foundation, the East Bay Community Law Center and the Berkeley Center for Law and Business. Since 1987, Mr. Sanders has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law and Who's Who in the West.
