Ever since she was 12 years old, Cheryl has felt a call to ministry. Today, she works as vice president, playwright and theatre director for Community Worship Arts INC. in Evansville, Indiana, and as a home healthcare nurse in pediatrics. At the start of her career, she served as music assistant for Jesus People Church in Minneapolis before working as director and playwright in residence for a number of churches, including the Allison Park Church in Pennsylvania, the First Assembly of God Life Center, now Freedom Church, in Billings, Montana, the Elkhart Assembly God Church in Indiana and New Hope Assembly of God Church in the great Detroit Metro Area. Mrs. Peterson has, additionally, helped many people over the years as a private duty nurse with specialized training in ventilator and tracheotomy care.
Cheryl received an associate degree in nursing from Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1979 and was licensed the same year. She completed undergraduate coursework at North Central University in Minneapolis in 1983. Due to receiving several theatre scholarships, Cheryl attended Chatham University in Pittsburgh in 1986-88 and studied with published playwright, Dr. Patricia Montley, and then took additional theatre arts courses at St. Cloud State University in 1989-1990. Cheryl was finally able to combine all her undergraduate work and graduated from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Elective Studies in theater arts in 1990. Mrs. Peterson also became a licensed minister with the Word of Faith Church and International Convention of Faith Ministries in 1999. Cheryl has been a teacher and motivational speaker for numerous religious and community events.
Cheryl has worked in ministry alongside her husband, Rev. James V Peterson, since they were married on June 11, 1983. James was a Minister of Music for 28 years, and now is a composer, musical director and President of Community Worship Arts, INC. Cheryl has been as a playwright and director of numerous original plays, including The Answer, a 2-act musical play, A City Set on a Hill, Our Legacy of Life and Liberty, The House of Obed-Edom, Joseph, The Man Who Waited, The Deceiver and Deliverer, The Christian Civil War and many more. The Petersons have combined their talents in music, playwriting and directing to create these original productions. Their stage productions have not only been performed in multiple churches, but also theatres, political rallies and Right to Life events, including the largest Right to Life banquet in the nation. The Answer, a 2-act musical play, is the Petersons most recent project; their website, TheAnswerToday.com showcases this production.
Due to her outstanding work, Cheryl has earned a plethora of awards, including a Certificate of Scholastic Achievement from the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, The National Dean's List, Outstanding College Student of America, and has also been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who of American Women. Looking toward the future, Rev. Cheryl Tupper Peterson intends to continue spreading the word of God through her work with Community Worship Arts which brings ministry to the marketplace to promote Judeo-Christian values.
