Alan Gifford Schwartz has served as president, chair, and chief executive officer of the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

Mr. Schwartz has been the chief executive officer of Tennis Corporation of America from 1969 to 1998, also serving as board chair from 1974 to present. In addition, he is currently managing partner of Columbia Equities and an advisory director of US Bancorp. Previously he was a board member and chairman of the executive committee of First Colonial Bankshares.
Mr. Schwartz graduated cum laude from Phillips Academy, Andover and was inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame for both tennis and swimming; from there he attended Yale University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1952, was a varsity swimmer and captained its tennis team. He then attended Harvard University, earning a Master of Business Administration degree with Distinction in 1954.
A respected voice in his industry for his energy, intellect and achievements, Mr. Schwartz has also been active with a number of organizations in his community. He has been both a board member and trustee of Roosevelt University and the Institute for Education of Students Abroad (IES) each for over 20 years.
He is a member of the Standard Club and the Executive Club of Chicago and he has served on the board of the National Public Parks Association, Duke University Graduate School of Business and The Tennis Channel.
He has served as president, chairman and chief executive officer of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and as a board member and vice president of the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Tennis Magazine named him Mr. Indoor Tennis and he has been inducted into the Club Industry Hall of Fame, the Midwest Tennis Hall of Fame, the Chicago Tennis Hall of Fame, the Tennis Industry Association Hall of Fame and the Intercollegiate Tennis Hall of Fame. He received the coveted designation of "Life Counselor" of the International Tennis Federation. Mr. Schwartz has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in America.
He has been married 60 years to Roslyn Schwartz and they have three children and eight grandchildren.
