Erich-Oskar Wruck was named a Henry Rutgers Scholar and inducted into the Artillery OCS Hall of Fame.

With 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Wruck has been retired since 1994, having been with the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg in Germany from 1986 to 1992. While serving the university, he established the exchange program and was the two-time director of the Davidson abroad program. Prior to obtaining these roles, he held a number of positions with Davidson College, including professor and chair of the German department from 1983 to 1987, associate professor from 1969 to 1973, and assistant professor from 1962 to 1969. Earlier in his career, he was an assistant instructor with Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, from 1959 to 1962.
Dr. Wruck began his career as a student at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1959. He continued his studies, completing a Master of Arts in 1961 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1969. In addition to his primary roles, he has served as a consultant for the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, having previously served as first lieutenant in the U.S. Army and advanced through the ranks to colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was also involved in the Headquarters of the Department of the Army and the Office of the Deputy Joint Chiefs of Staff for Military Operations. In addition, he served as a West Point liaison officer for the eighth, ninth and 10th congressional districts of North Carolina in the 1980s.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wruck has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the Julius Maximilian Medal from the University of Würzburg, he was named a Henry Rutgers Scholar and inducted into the Artillery OCS Hall of Fame. He has received three Meritorious Service Medals, the West German Armed Forces Achievement Medal in Gold, and the West German Athletic Medal in Gold.
Dr. Wruck has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World. A native of Pomerania, he has been married to Esther Emmy Schmidt since 1953 and has three children. He enjoys painting, photography, skiing and running in his spare time.
