Esther Marcia Leise won the United States Public Health Service National Research Service Award and fellowships through the University of California, Davis, and Georgia State University.

In a career filled with highlights, she is especially proud of receiving the National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellowship, which allowed her to pursue more consistent research.
A member of the Society for Neuroscience, Dr. Leise holds a Bachelor of Science in zoology from the University of Maryland and a Doctor of Philosophy in zoology from the University of Washington. In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, she maintains affiliation with the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, where she served on the public affairs committee from 1992 to 1994. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, she has contributed to such articles as "Induction of Metamorphosis in the Marine Gastropod, Ilyanassa Obsoleta: 5HT, NO and Programmed Cell Death" and "NADPH-Diaphorase Activity Changes during Gangliogenesis and Metamorphosis in the Gastropod Mollusk Ilyanassa Obsoleta."
Alongside other scholars, Dr. Leise has been featured in such publications as the Journal of Neurophysiology, the Journal of Comparative Neurology and the Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology. In light of her outstanding work in the field, she won the United States Public Health Service National Research Service Award and fellowships through the University of California, Davis, and Georgia State University. In addition, she has been a research grantee through the National Science Foundation. Impressively, she was also featured in the 24th and 25th editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
