An expert in his field, Dr. O'Brien initially pursued an education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earning a Bachelor of Science. He concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Connecticut. Earlier in his career, Dr. O'Brien completed two residencies with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. O'Brien is affiliated with the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, the American Heart Association and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Due to his outstanding work, he was featured in professional publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
