Representing defendants in a variety of civil cases since he began practicing law in 1971, he later established his firm, Robert A. Skipworth, Attorney at Law, more than 20 years ago in 1996. Located in the heart of El Paso, TX, Mr. Skipworth provides cost effective services and legal advice that will help guide clients into making the best decisions. If a settlement cannot be reached, he will use his expertise as a litigator and take the case to trial. Mr. Skipworth is a former partner and attorney at several different local firms and was the owner of Robert A. Skipworth, Attorney-at-Law, for just over a decade.
Authoring an article in 1995 called "Residential, Commercial Evictions in Texas," Mr. Skipworth also presented on the topic of Texas construction issues in 1998. He is a longtime, active member of the Texas Bar, the New Mexico Bar, the El Paso Probate Bar Association and the El Paso Bar Grievance Committee. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, where he was the recipient of a Civility Award by the El Paso chapter. Serving his local community, Mr. Skipworth was on the board of directors of the El Paso Rehabilitation Center from 1982 to 2009 and the El Paso Zoological Society from 2010 to 2016.
Mr. Skipworth has been honored as an AV-Rated Attorney by Martindale Hubbell. He has been cited in the 13th edition of Who's Who in American Law as well. He has notably held a Bachelor of Arts since 1967 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence since 1970 from the University of Texas. He was admitted to the Texas and New Mexico Bar Associations, the Northern and Western Districts of the U.S. District Court of Texas, and the Supreme Court of the United States. After earning his juris doctorate, Mr. Skipworth spent six years as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army beginning in 1970.
Born and raised in El Paso, Mr. Skipworth later married his wife Mary Ann Howrey in 1965. He has two children. His daughter is a corporate lawyer and his son is a real estate broker.
