For four decades, Mr. Patton has excelled in architecture and higher education. In 1996, he served for a total of 7 years as Technical Resources Coordinator for Schmidt Associates – Architects and Engineers. Most recently, he completed his commissioned service in the United State Navy Reserves that began in 1994 and ended in 2018 as a Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). At the start of his career, Mr. Patton collaborated with the Columbus Landmarks Foundation working as a historic building inventory staff member while he completed his studies at The Ohio State University as an Architectural Graduate Teaching Associate in the School of Engineering from 1978 – 1980.
As his career progressed, Mr. Patton was a Graduate Architect with The L.O.M. Corporation, Archonics Design Partnership, and Cole Associates and eventually joined James Architects and Engineers as the Head of Specifications. From 1987 to 1995, he was an Assistant Professor of Architectural Technology at Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at Indianapolis. In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Patton served his School as Director of Minority Affairs and Minority Engineering Advancement Program (MEAP) Coordinator in the Dean's Office. From 2001 until 2009, Mr. Patton was the Head of Specifications for Schenkel Shultz Architects (Indianapolis Office) where he was the lead Architectural Specifications writer and a L.E.E.D. professional (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) for the New Midway Terminal at the Indianapolis International Airport which was a career highlight project that continues to win national awards as the best domestic airport in the USA.
A 1975 initiate into the Theta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity (Miami University), Mr. Patton was inducted into his chapter's Hall of Fame in 2017. For outstanding service to his community, in 2017 LCDR Patton warded the Wings Of Love Award by Tillman H. Harpole American Legion Post #249.
An alumni member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Mr. Patton holds a Bachelor Of Environmental Design degree from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and a Master Of Architecture degree from Ohio State University (Columbus, OH). In addition, he was featured in the 24th and 25th editions of Who's Who In The Midwest.
