After accruing more than 30 years of practiced industry experience, Elizabeth Pittman Harrison retired from her role as a mathematics teacher with Lamar County School District in Purvis, MS.

After accruing more than 30 years of practiced industry experience, Ms. Harrison retired from her role as a mathematics teacher with Lamar County School District in Purvis, MS, in 2000, having held the role for more than 25 years. Previously, she served in the same capacity with Walton County School District in De Funiak Springs, FL. Over the years, she also gained valuable experiences through her work with the University of Southern Mississippi as a secretary, coordinator of the MISSMI Project, and math instructor, as well as the JBHM Education Group, where she served as a consultant. In a career filled with highlights, she is especially proud of being published in the journal The Mathematics Teacher in 2002, distributed by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
An expert in her field, Ms. Harrison holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Science from Troy University. Subsequently, she pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi. In order to remain abreast of changes in education, she maintains affiliation with the Lamar County Association of Educators and the Mississippi Council of Teachers of Mathematics, where she served as president from 1988 to 1989. In the past she contributed to her community through the Lamar County Junior MS Association and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Task Force.
In light of her excellence in the field, Ms. Harrison earned a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching from the National Science Teachers Association and was named Region Five Teacher of the Year by the State of Mississippi. Likewise, she has been included in Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. In the near future, Ms. Harrison intends to continue parlaying her knowledge of the field to others in her role as a consultant.
