With more than 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Mshana is currently a staff developer with the Riverside Unified School District from 2018 to 2019, having previously served as a principal with the school district from 2014 to 2018. Prior to obtaining these roles, she spent over a decade with the Pomona Unified School District. Assistant principal from 2010 to 2014, she was also a teaching specialist from 2006 to 2009 and a teacher leader from 1999 to 2006. During this time, Dr. Mshana also spent time as an English as a Second Language teacher at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa in 2009.
Prior to embarking on her career, Dr. Mshana began her studies at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1991. Following this accomplishment, she worked as a writer and researcher with Kundola Productions in New York City from 1991 to 1993 and an instructor at the House of Praise Private Playhouse in Moreno Valley from 1994 to 1996. Returning to school, Dr. Mshana joined Azusa Pacific Univeristy and completed a Master of Education in 2003 and subsequently earned a Doctor of Philosophy from an Claremont Graduate School's Urban Leadership Program in 2015.
Throughout her career, Dr. Mshana has been recognized for her contributions. A finalist of the International Young Playwright Festival at the Sydney Opera House and The Dramatists Guild of America, she received a Teaching Staff Outstanding Leadership Service Award from Ganesha High School in Pomona and as a principal in Riverside she led students to honorable recognition and model school status. In light of all her accomplishments, Dr. Mshana has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders.
