Dr. Wang had the pleasure of teaching at the Asbury Theological Seminary for 34 wonderful years. Hired in 1970 and later retiring in 2004, he became both a teacher and minister because he felt that, as a dedicated Christian, it was his life's mission to serve others. Ordained to ministry in 1971, he has taught and spoken in many seminaries and churches all over the world. Asbury Theological Seminary is notably an evangelical, multi-denominational, graduate institution that offers a variety of master's degree and postgraduate degree programs through the schools of biblical interpretation, theology and formation, practical theology, world mission and evangelism and postgraduate studies. The main campus is located in Wilmore, KY, near Lexington.
A contributing author to the 1981 publication "An Inquiry into Soteriology," the 1992 publication "Asbury Bible Commentary" and the 1990 book "The Wesley Bible," Dr. Wang also authored chapters to several books and articles to scholarly journals. He is an elected fellow of the Institute for Biblical Research and a longtime member of the Society of Biblical Literature, the Evangelical Theological Society and the Wesleyan Theological Society. He currently serves on the board of trustees for the One Mission Society.
The recipient of an Outstanding Educator of America Award by the National Committee in 1975, Dr. Wang has also been showcased in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Religion.
Born in Tainan, Taiwan, Dr. Wang first earned a Bachelor of Science from National Taiwan University in Taipei in 1957. Relocating to the United States in 1960, he soon after earned a Bachelor of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1963, Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1964 and Doctor of Philosophy from Emory University in 1970. He was ordained to ministry through the Free Methodist Church of North America as a deacon in 1971 and elder in 1973. Married to his wife Esther Ching-Huey Lin since 1964, Dr. Wang has one son, David.
