Dr. Kathleen Overin Slobin has been recognized as professor emeritus of North Dakota State University in Fargo since 2007.

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Slobin has been recognized as professor emeritus of North Dakota State University in Fargo since 2007. Joining the university as an assistant professor of sociology in 1991, she progressed to associate professor in 1997 and full professor in 2004. Additionally, Dr. Slobin held the role of director of women's studies from 1977 to 2001 and was chair of the department of sociology and anthropology from 2003 to 2006.
Prior to her tenure with North Dakota State University Dr. Slobin held a number of positions with the University of California, San Francisco including staff research associate in 1990, research assistant from 1986 to 1990 and associate director of continuing education in psychiatry from 1983 to 1986. Earlier in her career, Dr. Slobin was an education coordinator for the National Energy Foundation in 1982, an instructor at Indian Valley Community College in Novato, California, from 1981 to 1982, and a GED instructor for the Hayward, California Community Action Program from 1980 to 1982.
Dr. Slobin began her career as a student at Pomona College in Claremont, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1964. Following this accomplishment, she joined the California College of Arts & Crafts in San Francisco, completing a Master of Fine Arts in 1980. Continuing her studies with California State University, East Bay in Hayward, she received a Master of Public Administration in 1984. Dr. Slobin received her Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from the University of California, San Francisco in 1991 upon completion of her research and writing of her dissertation entitled "Family Mediation of Health Care in an African Community (Mali)."
Throughout her career, Dr. Slobin has been recognized for her achievements. She has received awards and accolades for her contributions and accomplishments. Notably, Dr. Slobin has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.
