LUSBY, MD, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Culver S. Ladd, Ph.D., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Ladd celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Ladd is a retired teacher whose career began after reading a church bulletin that was seeking teachers abroad in Thailand. With a background in the U.S. Air Force in Asia, he quickly applied and was accepted. Becoming a teacher at the International School in Bangkok, Thailand, in 1964, he taught classes in American history and United States government. Two years later, Dr. Ladd began lecturing for the University of Maryland Far East Division in Thailand between 1966 and 1967 and again between 1971 and 1974, teaching classes in business administration and recent Far East politics. While overseas, he also worked as a project director for Business Research Company Ltd. in Thailand and the American University Research Associate Development Education and Training Research Institute. He also worked in Chiang Mai, setting up and teaching classes as a special lecturer at Payap University. Between 1978 and 2000, he taught as a secondary educator within the District of Columbia Public Schools.
While teaching American history in Thailand, Dr. Ladd directly observed the country as it was developing out of its primitive colonial state. This encouraged him to go into research so that he could help the country along on a civic level. As much as he enjoyed teaching in the United States, Dr. Ladd's developmental work in Thailand was much more impactful for him. Some of his field research has included nationwide studies for several major world corporations interested in investments in Thailand with Business Research Company Ltd. One example was a 1972 study for General Motors Corporation, which brought the automobile company's investment for production of Chevrolet cars and pick-up trucks for Asia export a major income earner for the Thai nation.
Between 1973 and 1974, Dr. Ladd was a consultant for USAID in Thailand. He later worked as a visiting scientist at the Brookhaven National Laboratories in Long Island, NY, during 1988 and as a master teacher at the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship Foundation during 1989. He later served as a Ladd Legacy Symposium lecturer at North Dakota State University in 2011. Dr. Ladd continues to serve on the board of directors of the Chesapeake Water Association since 2002. At a local level, he was a Republican candidate for the Maryland Senate 29th Legislative District in 1998.
Dr. Ladd is a longstanding member of the Middle States Council for Social Studies, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Capital Area Political Science Association and the Mid-Atlantic Region Association of Asian Studies. He is also a member of the Experimental Aviation Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, as well as Pi Sigma Alpha and Omicron Delta Kappa.
The author of several books, Dr. Ladd first released "Pure Food Crusader Edwin Fremont Ladd, Chemist, 1859-1925: The Pure Food Crusade for Sanitation and Health of the Nation and its People" in 2006. He then released "Thailand Transformed: 1950-2012: Is Thailand the Test Case?" in 2012.
In 1987, Dr. Ladd received an Appreciation Award from Payap University. Listed in every edition of Who's Who since 1997, he has also been cited in approximately 25 editions of Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
Dr. Ladd studied physical sciences, public administration and political science. He received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland in 1953 and Master of Arts from American University in 1963, followed by postgraduate coursework at Harvard University in the summer of 1963 and Oxford University between 1975 and 1976. Dr. Ladd earned a second Master of Arts in 1978 and a Doctor of Philosophy in international relations with a focus on East Asian economic and comparative government in 1984 from American University. Dr. Ladd has held a certification by correspondence ICAF through the National Defense University in Thailand since 1972. He notably served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1953 to 1972 and was an intercept controller for the U.S. Department of Defense in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1956.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Culver S. Ladd, Ph.D., has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
