PALM BEACH, FL, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Robert Howard Sagerman, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Sagerman celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Inspired by his father, who was also a physician, Dr. Sagerman wanted to practice medicine because he admired the intellectual challenges that went into the profession. He received a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Medicine form New York University. This was followed by an internship year at Meadowbrook Hospital, during which he participated in the care of victims of the last Polio epidemic in the United States. He then began a residency in radiology at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was also a clinical instructor at Tulane University. This was interrupted by being called to Active Duty as a captain in the United States Air Force, serving as the radiologist for the 5040th Air Force Hospital in Fairbanks, Alaska. His two years of active duty included serving as the radiologist for St. Joseph's Hospital in Fairbanks, and for nine months at the military hospital in Anchorage.
After completion of active duty, he returned to New York City to complete the requirements for Board Certification in Radiology and Radiation Therapy. At this point he began his academic career as an instructor at Stanford University, where he spent three years. This was followed by four years as an assistant professor at Columbia Presbyterian University in New York City. He then became Professor in the department of Radiology and head of the division of Radiation Oncology at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center, where he currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sagerman also served as a consultant to various hospitals, medical centers, and medical institutions. As a respected voice in his field, he authored and co-edited four books, two of which are Radiotherapy of Intraocular and Orbital Tumors and Age Related Molecular Degeneration: Current Treatment Concepts.
Dr. Sagerman is most proud to have accomplished the many goals he set out to achieve in his career, which are all interconnected. As a physician, he treated cancer patients using his skills in radiation oncology. As a professor, he taught many people who pursued radiation oncology and went on to serve in academic departments. Most notably, Dr. Sagerman has been credited with changing the course of treatment for certain cancers from radiation sensitive to radiation curable.
As a testament to his professional prowess, Dr. Sagerman has been highlighted in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. He is a life member of his many of his radiological societies including the Radiological Society of North America.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Sagerman has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
