AUSTIN, TX, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Edward F. Coyle, Ph.D., FACSM, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Coyle celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Supported by more than 35 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Coyle serves as professor and director of the Human Performance Laboratory in the department of kinesiology and health education at The University of Texas at Austin. Throughout his career, he has achieved much, conducting research in metabolic and cardiovascular factors that limit aerobic exercise performance in individuals. Some of his more recent research has focused on the effects of prolonged sitting, or inactivity, on lipid metabolism. He discovered a phenomenon of exercise resistance whereby some of the health benefits of acute exercise are not realized in people who sit most of the day. The research showed that brief "inertial load exercise" on an exercise bike has health benefits as well as performance benefits that have been demonstrated by NASA and professional athletes.
An expert in his field, Dr. Coyle holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Arizona. Subsequently, he pursued a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral research fellowship through the Washington University Medical School. To remain abreast of changes in the field, he maintains affiliation with the American College of Sports Medicine as a fellow and the American Physiological Society as a member. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he contributed to articles and papers for the International Journal of Sports Medicine, the Inaugural Keynote Lecture for the UK Sport and Exercise Medicine Conference, and the 50th Annual Meeting of The American College of Sports Medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Coyle contributes to his industry through the Committee on Military Nutrition Research at The National Academies' Institute of Medicine, the International Olympic Committee, and the Environmental and Exercise Physiology Steering Committee of the American Physiological Society. In light of his outstanding work in the field, he won a Distinguished Faculty Award from the College of Education at The University of Texas at Austin, a fellowship through the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education, and a Citation Award from the American College of Sports Medicine, among several other accolades. In the coming years, Dr. Coyle intends to experience the continued success of his career at The University of Texas at Austin.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Edward F. Coyle, Ph.D., FACSM, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
