SANTA FE, NM, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Barbara Stanislawski with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Stanislawski celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Stanislawski is a retired elementary school educator who taught at the Davis School in Tucson, AZ, and was a head start director at the Manhattan Public School in Kansas. Nearly a decade later, she and her husband relocated from Kansas to Santa Fe, NM, so he could work on his fellowship at the School of American Research studying Native Americans. Transitioning into becoming a curator, Ms. Stanislawski became fascinated with these ancient societies. Hired by the School of American Research in the Indian Arts Research Center, she served as a curator and manager of collections between 1975 and 1983. She then steered her interest toward Native Americans and the natural world, ultimately becoming a curator for the National Park Service in Santa Fe, where she remained for another 22 years between 1984 and 2006.
Responsible for the development of the work on Hopi and Hopi-Tewa Ethnoarcheology with her husband Michael between 1968 and 1975, Ms. Stanislawski also conducted archival research on the New Deal era for the National Park Services. She has contributed multiple articles to various professional journals as a result of her research as well.
A longstanding member of the New Mexico Museum Association since 1980, Ms. Stanislawski is also a member of the board of directors of the National New Deal Preservation Association since 1998. Early on in her career, she served on the board of the League of Women Voters between 1964 and 1966.
Ms. Stanislawski was named an Outstanding Young Woman in America by the Outstanding American Foundation in Chicago in 1967. She has since been cited in the 23rd edition of Who's Who of American Women.
Born in Oakland, CA, Ms. Stanislawski later married her husband in 1958. In retirement, she especially enjoys reading and writing. She also likes to stay active by hiking. She feels blessed and gratified to have learned enough to be able to teach effectively. Being able to listen, she noted, has been one of her strongest traits. It has been the key to her success as an educator because in order to teach effectively, one must be able to learn. To learn, one must be able to listen. Ms. Stanislawski has held a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Stanford University since 1958.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Barbara Stanislawski has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
