BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 08, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Fern Victor Seizer with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Fern celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Fern Victor Seizer's interest in journalism was sparked when she was Editor of the Beverly Hills High School newspaper, and she continued on that path at UCLA, where she was Managing Editor of the Daily Bruin. It was there she met Sports Editor Robert (Bob) Seizer, and they married in 1955. A year later she graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude, with a L.A.Times Fellowship to graduate school in journalism at UCLA.
Life took a different path with the birth of son Steven Seizer, now a family physician living with his wife Claudia and three sons in Santa Monica, CA. Two years later Susan was born. She is now a professor of anthropology at Indiana University living in Bloomington with her wife Catherine and their two sons.
When the children started school, Fern served as both school and council PTA president. The Seizers have lived in their home in Beverly Hills since 1968, the year she began her professional career as Public Affairs Director for the National Council of Jewish Women in Los Angeles. Eleven years later she became Executive Director of the Fair Housing Council of the San Fernando Valley. Two years later she moved into her "dream job" as Executive Director of Venice Family Clinic, which became the largest free clinic in the country. Now a Community Health Center, it provides comprehensive health care to low-income and homeless families at 12 sites in West Los Angeles.
In 1995 she retired from the Clinic and served as a consultant to Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center until her first grandson was born and she retired to fully enjoy family life. Bob also retired from his successful career in sports journalism, having moved from newspapers to radio to television as a writer, director and producer.
Fern's commitment to the nonprofit world and her achievements were widely recognized. She was honored by both the City and County of Los Angeles, the Venice Family Clinic and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Outstanding Volunteer). She received the UCLA Alumni Association's Professional Achievement Award and the "Unsung Hero" award from the California Community Foundation.
She has served for many years on the Boards of Directors of Saint John's Hospital and Health Center in Santa Monica, the Venice Family Clinic and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, as well as chairing Brentwood Country Club's women's social activities committee. She and Bob travel together and with their family and enjoy theater, movies, bridge and socializing with friends.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Seizer has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
