Brenda Joyce Larsen became a certified teacher in Arizona though the University of Phoenix in 1998.
TUCSON, AZ, April 09, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Brenda Joyce Larsen with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Larsen celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Larsen began her career as an elementary school teacher in Arizona at the Flagstaff Christian Schools and Flagstaff Indian Christian Schools in Arizona in 1978. Relocating to California after just one year, she taught for another 18 years before returning to Arizona. During her tenure in California, she taught at several Christian schools and a Baptist school in such locations as Cudahy, Maywood, and Huntington Park, among other cities. In 1998, Ms. Larsen accepted a position as a reading specialist and teacher in the Indian Oasis Baboquivari Unified School District in Sells, AZ, where she remained until 2007. She also worked as a reading specialist in Coolidge, AZ, for four years beginning in 2008 and taught at Northminster Christian School in Tucson, AZ, from 2014 to 2018. She has since become a reading tutor for private schools within the Tucson Unified School District, where she remains today.
The decision to become a reading specialist stems from Ms. Larsen's personal struggle to learn to read as a child. As someone who can truly empathize with her students, she knows exactly what it feels like to struggle. Blessed to have been able to work with hundreds of students over the years, nothing has been more satisfying that having former students come up to her and thank her for helping them succeed.
During her years in education, Ms. Larsen was an active member of the National Teachers Association. She has been included in the 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who of American Women. Ms. Larsen has held a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Northern Arizona University since 1976 and a Master of Arts in reading and literacy from Grand Canyon University since 2007. She became a certified teacher in Arizona though the University of Phoenix in 1998. As her career winds down, Ms. Larsen enjoys traveling. Her goal is to visit all 50 U.S. states.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Brenda Joyce Larsen has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
