Ms. Goss is a language arts and business educator for the Colbert County Board of Education in Leighton, AL. Beginning in 1975 just after earning her bachelor's degree, she taught within the same district for her entire career. During her tenure, she notably chaired the philosophy and goals, language arts and major educational priorities committees for the Leighton Middle School Curriculum.
Working with all types of students, from personality to background and status, Ms. Goss's career has been challenging, yet extremely rewarding. She remembers one student, a seventh grader whose mother was a single mom and cleaned homes for a living. Discovering that the mother could not afford to surprise her son with gifts on Christmas because she did not have enough money, Ms. Goss and her husband anonymously helped to save her holiday for her and her son.
A longstanding member of the Association of American Educators, the National Education Association and the Colbert County Educators Association, Ms. Goss is also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she was elected Worthy Matron in 2003. Locally, Ms. Goss served her community as the president of the Parent Teacher Organization at C.M. Brewster Elementary School from 1990 to 1991. She was a missions' teacher for the Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, AL, during 1985 as well.
Ms. Goss has been highlighted in the third edition of Who's Who in American Education, the 16th edition of Who's Who of American Women and the third edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. She has held a Bachelor of Science, with honors, and a Master's Degree in business education from the University of North Alabama since 1975 and 1993, respectively. Married to Terry Lee Goss since 1974, Ms. Goss has two children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, needlecrafts, computers and woodworking.
