Supported by many years of experience, Mr. Baker has built an impressive career as a private investigator, a position he has held since 1996. Initially beginning his career as a shipping clerk for the Keebler Co. in Macon between 1965 and 1966, he further progressed to a shipping and stockroom clerk with the Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, Georgia, and the Furniture Center Inc. in Macon from 1966 to 1968. Mr. Baker's career path took a turn when he began his tenure with the Macon Police Department, while simultaneously enlisting and serving in the Georgia Army National Guard from 1977 to 1980. Previously, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1963 and transferred to active duty from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1965.
Exceling as an investigator, Mr. Baker progressed to the roles of a sergeant and supervisor for Team 2 before concluding his contributions to the Macon Police Department as a communication supervisor in 1996. He also worked as court security with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office from 1995 to 1996. During his time with the Macon Police Department, Mr. Baker secured certifications in public management and criminal justice from both the University of Georgia in Athens and Macon State College in 1989. He has a license as an instructor of private detectives and as a security training instructor since 1990. He also has a license in Georgia and South Carolina as a private investigator from 1996 to 2000.
Throughout his career, Mr. Baker maintained professional relationships with many organizations, including the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, The Fraternal Order of Police, The Academy of Security Educators and Trainers, ASIS International, the Georgia Association of Professional Private Investigators and the Scottish Rite Mason Shriners, among others. Moreover, he is involved with several other career-related endeavors, serving as a local consultant with Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations in Macon and an in-service trainer with local firms in Atlanta and Macon. He holds certifications in legal investigation, classroom training, as well as lay-leadership studies and lay-speaking, through the District Methodist Committee. Additionally, Mr. Baker is a state licensed private detective and security instructor.
Notably, Mr. Baker is a member of the board of directors of the Caring Connection Chaplaincy. This organization serves and ministers to those who serve in departments of public safety, including the Georgia Department of Public Safety, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Georgia Department of Homeland Security, and the Darien Police Department, among others.
For his achievements in the field, Mr. Baker was recognized in the 2016 Georgia General Assembly House Bill for his contributions to public service. He has previously been featured in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in the World. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Mr. Baker enjoys golfing, tennis, touring the country by motorcycle and art.
