Dr. Tietz also gained valuable expertise in program management and information technology leadership at USPS Headquarters and at Cadmus Professional Services.
Throughout his career. Dr. Tietz has found success due to the encouragement he received through a number of mentors, including Prof. Dr. Karl Dörffling at the University of Hamburg, Drs. Andreas Chrambach and David Rodbard at the National Institute of Child Health (NICHD) in Bethesda, Dr. Robert Hammond, former division director at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) in Bethesda, Diane Smith at USPS, and Alex Freund. Most importantly, he credits his success to the over 30 years of support he has received from his wife Angelina Osorio Tietz. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Tietz is especially proud of his biomedical and computational research he conducted as Visiting Scientist at NICHD, and being invited to present the results of his research at the Tea Seminar of Professor Manfred Eigen, a Nobel Laureate and the former director at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry.
A member of the Project Management Institute, Dr. Tietz earned a Doctor rer. nat. from the University of Hamburg and pursued postdoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, he authored more than 60 publications, including "An innovative method for quality control of conjugated Haemophilus influenza vaccines: A short review of two-dimensional nanoparticle electrophoresis." Additionally, Dr. Tietz has presented at more than 15 national and international conferences, and contributed as editor for the "Nucleic Acid Electrophoresis Lab Manual" and as a member of the Editorial Board for the Electrophoresis Journal.
For his professional accomplishments, Dr. Tietz was presented at NIDDK with the Institute Director's Award in 2005; at USPS with the Executive Leadership Team Award in 2015 and the CIO Certificate of Appreciation in 2017. Furthermore, he was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Looking toward the future, Dr. Tietz intends to provide strategic leadership and advocacy for innovative science and technology endeavors.
