Over the years, he gained valuable expertise in the field as a gallery manager for The Guild of Boston Artists and as an art instructor with the North Yorkshire County Council. Throughout his life, he has been honored to have his work featured at exhibitions with Hammer Galleries, the Francesca Anderson Gallery, the Ruthven Gallery and the St. Botolph Club. An expert in his field, Mr. Curtis was privileged to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston and the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, as well as under R.H. Ives Gammell and Robert Douglas Hunter. In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, he affiliated himself with the Rockport Art Association and the Arts and Crafts Association of Meriden. Through these organizations, he has won a plethora of awards, including the Lazare Barth Memorial Award, the Annie I. McCarthy Memorial Award, the Frank S. Raphael Award, the Robert W. Clark Popular Award, the Copley Artist Award and the Copley Master Award, among others. Due to his outstanding work, he also won a President's Award from the American Artists Professional League, a Best in Oil Award from the Annisquam Art Association and an honor through The Guild of Boston Artists.
