An AV-Rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Pierce maintains a focus in the areas of business law, real estate and estate planning matters, corporate issues and transactions, business formation, real estate mortgage financing and asset protection.
Born in Winter Haven, Florida in 1937 to parents Francis and Margaret Pierce, he first attended the University of Florida, Gainesville, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Army, serving until 1965 and attaining the rank of Lieutenant. On active duty, he served as a pilot from 1959 to 1962. He was inspired by his older brother, who was a lawyer. While in the military, Mr. Pierce decided that he wanted to find a line of work where he could do more for people, and seeing what his brother was able to do as an attorney helped bring him to the decision to attend law school. In 1965, he received a Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and was soon after admitted to the Florida Bar, and later the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
In 1966 he began his career as an associate with Anderson, Rush, Dean & Lowndes in Orlando, and in 1968 he joined Arnold, Matheny & Eagen. In 1970 he entered into a partnership with Pierce, Lewis & Dolan, and in 1974 he began his decades long career in private practice. His philosophy has always been to "have clients in a better position when they leave our offices than when they came in. We endeavor to accomplish this by applying our extensive knowledge in sophisticated areas of the law." He is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Corporations and Securities Committee of the Florida Bar and the Central Florida Real Estate Council. In addition, Mr. Pierce is a licensed real estate broker and formerly a licensed mortgage broker.
In light of his ability and accomplishments, Mr. Pierce has been honored and recognized on multiple occasions. He has received an AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell (one of the highest ratings an attorney can received), was named Businessman of the Year by the National Republican Congressional Committee in 2004, and in 2014 he received the Pinnacle Profession Member Award. In addition, he was listed in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the World.
Married to his wife Kathleen since 1989, he has four children: Kathleen, Nancy, John Jr., and Michael, as well as eight grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, boating, and skiing.
