G. Patrick Bonnie continues to conduct research on the effect of climate and environmental change on ancient and contemporary humanity, the subject of his master's thesis a decade ago.
EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, April 15, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present G. Patrick Bonnie with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Bonnie celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After nearly four decades of experience as a technologist and operations executive in the computer industry, Mr. Bonnie began teaching archaeology and forensic anthropology at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, in 2009. He became interested in the impact of environmental change on human evolution and cultural collapse after taking a physical anthropology course at Normandale in 2006. This sparked an interest in teaching anthropology and archaeology and a return to graduate school for professional accreditation. Prior to this, Mr. Bonnie had focused on computer technologies at Control Data Corporation and Seagate Technology, Inc. from 1967 to 2005 when he retired as a senior executive in international operations.
Mr. Bonnie's business experience ranged from the development of magnetic storage devices and technical management to international manufacturing and intellectual property law. More recently, as an archaeologist and educator, he has researched prehistoric native sites in southwestern Minnesota and undertaken an ethnographic film project of life in small-town Minnesota. A recently developed course titled "Ancient Technologies" was an opportunity to combine Mr. Bonnie's love of both engineering and archaeology, teaching students about the origins and impact of pre-modern materials and technology. Furthermore, Mr. Bonnie continues to conduct research on the effect of climate and environmental change on ancient and contemporary humanity, the subject of his master's thesis a decade ago.
For many years, Mr. Bonnie has been active as a member of the American Civil Liberties Union. A non-profit organization, the ACLU's mission is to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. As a believer in the power of education to uplift both individuals and society at large, Mr. Bonnie has also established scholarship programs at Normandale, as well as scholarships in science and fine arts at his former high school in Lakin, Kansas.
Presented with Technology Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Awards by Seagate Technology, Mr. Bonnie has also received the Big Deal Award from Phi Theta Award at Normandale Community College and a John and Suanne Rouche Excellence Award for Community College Teaching. In conjunction with a colleague, he helped the college obtain a substantial multi-year grant for archaeological fieldwork. Featured in the 66th edition of Who's Who in America, Mr. Bonnie has been granted 19 United States patents and has authored and/or co-authored a dozen technical publications.
Mr. Bonnie earned a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota in 1966 and a Bachelor of Business Law degree from LaSalle Extension University in 1971. After retirement, he completed undergraduate courses in anthropology at Normandale and subsequently earned a Master of Arts degree in environmental anthropology from Saint Mary's University in 2008. Committed to lifelong education, Mr. Bonnie's current focus is coursework related to the psycho-political aspects of religion in American society.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, G. Patrick Bonnie has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
