Aspiring to enter the field of economics from a young age, Mr. Schoellkopf pursued formal education at the inception of his career, earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of California in 1956. Returning to his home country of Germany, he attended the University of Munich, where he completed postgraduate coursework from 1956 to 1957. Returning to the United States, Mr. Schoellkopf concluded his studies with postgraduate coursework at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, which he completed between 1957 and 1960.
Commencing his career as an instructor of economics at Cornell University from 1960 to 1961, Mr. Schoellkopf also served as a lecturer in economics at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, from 1961 to 1963. For the subsequent 16 years, he served as an officer with Chase Manhattan Bank, now known as J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, NA., later becoming the executive vice president and treasurer for the following nine years. From 1988 to 1990, he was the executive vice president of Shearson Lehman Hutton Inc. and, from 1990 to 1996, he acted as vice chairman and chief financial officer of First Fidelity Bank. Finally, he served Bank Austria as chief executive officer of its U.S. operations from 2000 to 2001. Since 2003, Mr. Schoellkopf has been a managing partner at Lykos Capital Management LLC.
Mr. Schoellkopf is a former member of the American Economic Association, and he maintained affiliation with The Phi Beta Kappa Society and Phi Kappa Phi. As a hobby, he has penned several books, including "Jason as a Young Boy" in 2013, "Rainbows: A Novel in Five Parts" in 2009, "Two Thousand Eighty-Four" in 2011, "Julia in Hellas" in 2007 and "New York Measure" in 2002. He is currently working on "Places" for publication in 2020.
In light of his many accomplishments, Mr. Schoellkopf was highlighted in the first edition of Who's Who in Corporate America, the 21st edition of Who's Who in the East, the 24th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, the 47th edition of Who's Who in America, and the 38th through 41st editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Married to Margaret F. Weston since 1964.
