Previously, she gained valuable experience as a legal researcher for the Michigan State Appellate Defender Office, an adjunct professor of legal research at the School of Law at the University of Detroit Mercy and as a law clerk to Michigan Supreme Court Justice G. Mennen Williams. Additionally, Ms. Shecter participates in speaking engagements on a regular basis for such institutions as the National Council of Jewish Women, the Michigan and American Associations for Justice, the Oakland County and Michigan State Bar Associations and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
Ms. Shecter holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from New York University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Wayne State University in Detroit. In order to keep abreast of changes in the field, she affiliates herself with the Oakland County, Federal and American Bar Associations, numerous committees for Wayne County Neighborhood Legal Services, the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan and the Michigan Employment Law Association, among others. Utilizing her considerable expertise, Ms. Shecter has authored numerous legal articles in the Wayne Law Review, the Michigan Bar Journal, the Litigation Section Newsletter, BNA Employee Relations Weekly and Laches.
For her professional accomplishments, Ms. Shecter has been recognized many times, earning features in Who's Who in American Law, the Foremost Women of the 20th Century Award and an AV-Rating through Martindale-Hubbell. A standout in her field, she also won honors as a Top Lawyer in Employment Law and as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Michigan.
