ESTERO, FL, April 17, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Joseph G. Nassif with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Nassif celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
From the time he was in eighth grade, Mr. Nassif knew he wanted to delve into the field of law. Graduating from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971, he subsequently earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the university in 1974 and was inducted into the order of the Woolsack. Licensed to practice law by the Missouri Bar and Illinois State Bar, he commenced his career as an assistant counsel of litigation for the Monsanto Co. in St. Louis in 1974, holding the position for 12 years. Since 1986, he has served as partner of Coburn, Croft & Putzell in St. Louis, as well as chair of the Environmental Law Practice Group within the firm since 1988. During this time, Mr. Nassif was the chair of the environmental department at Husch Blackwell from 2001 to 2016.
On February 6, 1984, Mr. Nassif began a second chair of the longest civil jury trial in American Civil Jurisprudence: Kemner v. Monsanto. The case lasted three years and eight months. Once the medical case began, Mr. Nassif left counsel table and spent nine months in New York working on closing arguments with the Acorn Group and Sonya Hamlin. In 1988, the American Bar Association Journal interviewed Mr, Nassif for an article "What Did You Do in the Trial Daddy?" Ultimately, the jury deliberated for eight weeks basically leading to a defense verdict on the case involving 65 plaintiffs.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Mr. Nassif has been serving as a pro bono attorney for the Legal Services of Eastern Missouri since 1985. He notably represented a woman seeking paternity against an automobile dealer in Columbus, Ohio. Having fathered three children with the woman, the dealer was her immediate boss. Not usually handling this kind of case, Mr. Nassif notably won the case for his client following a winning argument before the Missouri Supreme Court.
In an effort to share his wealth of knowledge within the legal community, Mr. Nassif served as a writer for the ABA Young Lawyer Committee on Criminal Penalties "Community Service Orders for Offenders" and "Civil and Criminal Environmental Enforcement: the Missouri Bar Association Desk Book." He also authored a book titled "Snuggle Moose: A Grandparent's Tale." Having served as the co-chairman of the young lawyers committee of the American Bar Association and chairman of the Young Lawyers Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, he maintains affiliation with the Missouri Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Corporate Counsel as well.
In light of his myriad accomplishments, Mr. Nassif received the Volunteer Lawyers Award from the Legal Services of Eastern Missouri in 1985. In addition, the American Bar Association honored him with an Achievement Award in 1982. Mr. Nassif has been highlighted in the fifth and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Law.
