SAINT HELENA, CA, April 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Alicia Schooler-Hugg with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Schooler-Hugg celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With a strong desire to help others, Ms. Schooler-Hugg was drawn to the field of nursing. She received an Associate of Science in nursing from San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, CA, a Bachelor of Science in organizational behavior from the University of San Francisco (USF), and a Master of Arts in human resources and organizational development from USF. Her career led her into a myriad of positions in the medical, health care, and journalism fields. Educational posts have included serving as an instructor of communications, organizational leadership and health sciences at Chapman University in Modesto, CA, Professional Programs Manager at MedicAlert Foundation in Turlock, CA, where she chaired the National Latex Allergy Collaboration, and Director of Education at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, CO. In addition to her duties in the health care industry, from which she is now retired, Ms. Schooler-Hugg is also a talented writer. While attending USF, one of her instructors encouraged her to compete publicly with other writers, leading to awards and a weekly Op Ed column for the Stockton Record, a Central Velley Gannett publication. She has spent many years writing newspaper columns and doing freelance journalism for various publications. As an accomplished writer, she has been most proud of her serving as a role model and advocate for young minority girls. Her pieces on racism and social justice have often inspired people of all ages, ethnicities, and genders to reach out through letters. Letters from black male prisoners often floated across her desk as well, telling of abuse and racism during their arrests and subsequent incarcerations.
Civically, Ms. Schooler-Hugg has served on Stockton's Library Literacy and Planned Parenthood boards, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Stockton Unified Black Employees Association. To remain abreast of developments in her field and her community, she maintains affiliation with the American Association of University Women, Delta Sigma Theta and Chi Eta Phi. She has published two books and appears in several anthologies, including those containing short stories and poetry.
As a testament to her professional prowess, Ms. Schooler-Hugg has received myriad accolades, including three C. Everett Koop, M.D. awards for health-focused columns. She has been listed in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who of American Women. Married with five children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, she enjoys reading, traveling, exercising and art in her spare time.
